Pandering to one of the most meretricious lobbies in the US, the one that wants to make Spanish an official language, Pacific Western Bank in San Jose is misguidedly seeking to serve its Spanish-speaking clientele better by becoming the first local community bank in California to offer system-wide automated teller machines with instructions in Spanish: regardless of what well-meaning campaigners may wish, any individual that fails to master English fluently will be fatally disadvantaged in the employment market for anything but the most menial jobs for decades yet.
