PACIFIC TELESIS AND BELL ATLANTIC TO OFFER VOICE-MESSAGE SERVICES

The US Federal Communications Commission is braving the wrath of Judge Greene again by telling Pacific Telesis Group and Bell Atlantic Corp that they can offer voice-message services in direct contradiction to the Judge’s ruling that the Baby Bells were barred from offering such services: the FCC decision, which carries little weight unless endorsed by Judge Greene, would allow Pacific Telesis to offer speech store-and-forward services and Bell Atlantic to offer recorded news and sports services.
