By CBR Staff Writer

Pace Micro Technology, the UK-based set-top box manufacturer, is to pay 1.05m pounds to settle a patent dispute with RCA Thomson Licensing Corp, a subsidiary of GE Corp. It has signed an agreement with RCA covering a substantial portfolio of patents relating to the manufacture of set-top boxes, including a number essential for the MPEG-2 standard. According to Pace, the license equates to less than $1 for each set-top box it manufactures.
