OXFORD INSTRUMENTS FACES COMPETITION IN THE TABLETOP SYNCHROTON BUSINESS FROM NTT

Oxford Instruments Plc faces stiff competition in the tabletop synchrotron business – the things are used for generating X-rays that can be used for superfine chip lithography: Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp says it has a synchrotron – storage ring with superconducting magnet that can accelerates electrons close to the speed of light – that generates what it is calling Synchrotron Orbital Radiation that it reckons will enable the fabrication of chips storing up to 128M-bits of memory 16Mbytes!
