Outsystems has made its PaaS available as a cloud solution.

Its product becomes the only PaaS available as a cloud, on-premise or hybrid solution which supports Java and .NET-environment applications with integrated DevOps support.

The company says its move into cloud will enable organisations to be able to switch between private and public cloud and on-premise with the PaaS solution, which is used by firms in 24 countries to build and deploy business applications while virtually eliminating change request backlogs.

"Using the cloud shouldn’t mean giving up control of your data, processes and systems in order to gain high productivity," said Paulo Rosado, founder and CEO of OutSystems.

"Companies are wary of the ‘cloud lock-in’ that comes with solutions like force.com. Whatever you build in their cloud stays in their cloud. Our customers are looking for options – start in the cloud, move to on-premises, embrace hybrid models, extend applications using the languages they use today.

"With the OutSystems Platform, the application development community now has an enterprise-capable PaaS that will scale, port and extend any way they wish."

The company is using Amazon Web Services as its public cloud provider and can work in a third-party private cloud or one in the customer’s data centre unless the customer wants it to reside on-premise.
