Chinese smartphone maker Oukitel has introduced the K10000, a smartphone that has a battery life of more than two weeks on a single charge.
The smartphone features a special battery that is 10 times the size of the iPhone 6S which is capable of running for 10 to 15 days under ‘normal use’.
K10000 features a 10,000 mAh battery which needs 3.5 hours of charging to reach its full capacity.
The phone is equipped with a 1GHz quad-core MediaTek processor and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
The device has a 5.5-inch screen with 720p resolution, a 1GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be extended through a microSD card.
The dual SIM phone lists all the apps on the screen, which eliminates the need for a secondary menu.
It features an eight megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a two megapixel camera on the front.
Battery life has been the pain point of many smartphone makes as they struggle to strike a balance between features, quality and battery life.
Previously, Stanford University introduced an aluminum battery that was capable of charging in just one minute.
Stanford chemistry professor Hongjie Dai said at that time: "We have developed a rechargeable aluminum battery that may replace existing storage devices, such as alkaline batteries, which are bad for the environment, and lithium-ion batteries, which occasionally burst into flame."
