Rennes, France-based OST SA has announced its Xcellys Ethernet switch. The product is modular with three different chassis that can accommodate one to six ports and features a high speed switching core that interfaces with RISC-based LAN-SWITCH modules. Management protocols supported include TELNET, Trivial File Transfer Protocol and Simple Network Management Protocol. The range has three modules: the Xcellys-S single board, six Ethernet ports; the Xcellys-M, four slots, up to 24 Ethernet ports, with a switching core at 1.28Gbps; and the Xcellys-L 16 slot, up to 96 Ethernet ports, with a switching core at 5Gbps. The Xcellys-S is shipping now and is priced at UKP3,000, while the Xcellys-M and -L will ship in the first two months of 1995 and mid-1995 respectively, prices unavailable.
