ORIENT EXPRESS: ENCORE COMPUTER SIGNS UP SINGAPORE DISTRIBUTOR

By CBR Staff Writer

Encore Computer Corp, the Marlboro, Massachusetts team-of-all the-talents that had such a painful genesis, is making a bid for domination in the Pacific Basin by completing its third distribution agreement within the last 18 months. Encore has signed a $3m, three-year agreement under which CCS Pte Ltd of Singapore will become the exclusive distributor for Multimax parallel processing systems in South East Asia. CCS – it stands for Cad-Cam Systems – plans to sell the Unix-based Multimax systems to the university, government and commercial markets in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Multimax systems have already been shipped and the first one has been installed at the National University of Singapore. Encore’s two previous deals were with World Business Machine’s in Korea and Rikei in Jap-an. In April this year Encore also established a $30m partnership with Matra Datasysteme in France.
