Orchestream(TM), a leading provider of services activation and performance management software to global telecommunications network operators will be announcing(TM)solution. The integration combines IP service activation and provisioning from Orchestream, with fault management provided by Micromuse’s Netcool(R) suite. The integration between Netcool and Orchestream will help network managers improve the overall operational effectiveness of their IP networks, by providing a single point where all events are reported, prioritized and resolved automatically.

Orchestream’s Netcool Integration Module (NIM) provides probe level integration to Netcool(R) OMNIbusTM v3.4. The NIM automatically translates and forwards Orchestream faults, clear and message traps to Netcool. This allows network managers to gain rapid visibility to all activation, provisioning and network fault events through the Netcool Console, as well as manage provisioning processes with minimum service disruption. Moreover, the health and status of Orchestream components deployed in the management infrastructure are easily and thoroughly monitored.

We are pleased that Orchestream is one of the first members of the Micromuse Developers Alliance to deliver a live product offering, said Ashley Ward, Orchestream’s CEO. Now, service providers will be able to use best-of-class technologies from one interface; Orchestream technology to provision the services in their networks, and Netcool software to monitor the availability and performance of those services. This is a significant step forward in the integration of best-of-breed IP products.

Efficient service deployment, meeting advanced service level agreements, and keeping operational costs under control are fundamental challenges that service providers face today, commented Andy Aiello, Senior Vice President of Business Development at Micromuse. The integration of Netcool suite with Orchestream links the critical areas of service creation and service management together, helping our common customers save time and bring new services to market more quickly.

One customer who recognized the potential of this combination is business telecommunications and Internet company Energis. They were recently tipped by market analysts as one of two profitable telcos likely to perform well due to investment in high technology platforms and their reputation for offering a high level of customer service. Energis required a solution that would enable us to get to market quickly and differentiate us from the competition. In combination with Micromuse Netcool, Orchestream enables rapid deployment and provides accurate and timely information about the state of our network, helping us to be more proactive when it comes to meeting our customer needs, said Debbie Best, Program Director, Energis.
