Orange and Vodafone don’t like Swedish 3G rules

Orange's and Vodafone's Swedish subsidiaries are seeking to renegotiate the conditions attached to their 3G licenses in Sweden. The two operators claim that under the current conditions it is impossible for them to fulfil the requirements.

The conditions state that the 3G networks are to achieve 99% coverage by the end of 2003. Vodafone Sverige’s CEO Jon Risfelt says, If no charges are made, it is totally impossible.

However, Sweden’s national telecommunications regulator has responded by saying that it is not planning to change the roll-out requirements for the 3G networks.
