Functionality has been improved across other modules in the ERP suite. The Human Capital Management module now supports employee scheduling, enhanced time and labor, and self-service capabilities. The CRM modules have been improved to enable greater visibility into customer service operations, while Supply Chain Management benefits from added transportation shipment sequencing, enabling OEM suppliers to deliver to manufacturing production lines in the exact sequence in which the parts are required. The Fixed Asset Management module has been also enhanced to keep pace with accounting and regulatory requirements.

Version 8.12 also introduces functionality for the food and beverage producers industry through three new modules. Blend Management, Grower Management and Grower Pricing and Payments are all aimed at manufacturers dealing with blended products.

The release honors Oracle’s commitment to continue to develop the JD Edwards products, and customers can do a straight application-only upgrade to version 8.12.

At the same time Oracle is urging a more substantial change, to the Oracle Technology Foundation, its database and middleware infrastructure. The carrot comes in the form of access to components such as Oracle Containers for J2EE, Oracle BPEL Process Manager, Oracle Identity Management, and Oracle Portal, that can be used to support the complete enterprise including business applications, custom applications, and standards-based enterprise services. Version 8.12 has been certified on Oracle Fusion Middleware, which should mean customers can effect a gradual change.

The new version includes support for the current and next releases of platforms such as IBM WebSphere 6.0, IBM Portal 5.1, Sun Solaris Unix 10, Redhat Linux 3.0, and i5/OS V5R4.
