International Software Group’s Navigator data access software is to be tightly integrated and bundled in with Oracle Corp’s Oracle8i internet database, the two companies announced yesterday. Under the three year, multi-million dollar deal, Oracle will resell the integrated software as Oracle Transparent Enterprise Gateway. Oracle will also include an evaluation copy of ISG Navigator for customers who require higher performance integration with other databases.

ISG, an Israeli company listed on Nasdaq, which has its US headquarters in Burlington, Massachusetts, called the deal a strong endorsement. of its technology. The company, which says it is in the enterprise information infrastructure business, claimed the deal would significantly boost its market opportunities. ISG Navigator is a collection of drivers and gateways with an integration engine and customization tools and services. It is sold direct by ISG, and through OEM and partnership deals with companies such as Cognos Inc, Compaq Computer Corp (through both Digital Equipment Corp and Tandem Computers Ltd acquisitions), Computer Associates International Inc and Microsoft Corp.

Simultaneously, ISG announced version 2.0 of ISG Navigator, adding support for IBM Corp’s MVS mainframe operating system, internet application server capabilities, extended support for Microsoft Transaction Server, additional Unix data sources, more application and data integration tools, and support for Tandem’s NonStop Himalaya. It also announced another integration deal, with QueryObject Systems Corp, which intends to embed ISG Navigator with each copy of its QueryObject business intelligence tool.
