Oracle Application Integration Architecture for Communications will provide pre-built, extensible business process integrations between applications held within the Oracle Communications portfolio, which include Siebel CRM, Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management, Oracle Communications Service Fulfillment Suite, Oracle E- Business Suite, and the Oracle Service Delivery Platform, many of which have come to it through acquisition. It also aims to do the same from some third-party and legacy applications.
The intention is to produce a pre-integrated business application platform for the industry that Oracle claims will be the first on the market. Amdocs will probably dispute that but Oracle will be able to bring a broader range of applications to its platform. By taking on the burden of integration, Oracle is providing a valuable service while also addressing issues arising from its disparate set of comms applications.
This will be the first of several releases that will deliver the AIA as a product because as part of its industry verticalization initiative, Oracle plans to deliver a series of Industry Reference Models. These will provide tools and documented business processes to designed to create integrated process flows across heterogeneous environments. It also plans to work with systems integrators to co-develop best-practice industry processes and models.
The AIA for Comms package will include industry reference models, process integration packs providing pre-built integrations across Oracle applications, and pre-built SOA components.
