Oracle Corp has released a few more snippets about its new Network Computer to PC Magazine. A version called the Laptop Slate weighs under 2 lbs, runs for six hours on two AA batteries, and can use a television as a display. Oracle’s implementation of the Network Computer operating system runs in 300Kb, has no overlapping windows or pull-down menus, but looks more like an interface for a CD-ROM title. InterOffice Desktop, one of the applications that will run on any Network Computer, is a subset of Microsoft Office with word processor, spreadsheet, presentation graphics, electronic mail, facsimile, voice mail and World Wide Web access.
