Oracle Identity Management 10g Release 3 adds end user provisioning, federated virtual directory capabilities, and reporting capabilities to its previous set of Java-based access control tools.
Specifically, the Release 3 bundles together tools from Oblix, which provided access control and federated identity; OctetString, which provided virtual directories; Thor, which focused on provisioning; and Attestation, which provides reports of end user privileges that are typically used for compliance or housekeeping purposes.
According to Amit Jasuja, vice president of identity management product development, the release will mark the second phase in Oracle’s process of developing identity management offerings. It follows phase I, where the acquired products were rebranded, with an offering that provides links and localization in 28 languages.
Additionally, the new suite adds federated identity support for the latest SAML/Liberty standards, and the rival Microsoft-based WS-Federation as well.
Down the road, Oracle plans a more complete integration so the entire suite has a common look and feel and shares a single metadata source. Oracle Identity Management 10g Release 3 is set to be released sometime in Q2 which ends in May.
