The database and applications giant is expected to use next month’s OpenWorld conference in San Francisco to showcase a broad set of new products branded separately under its existing Oracle Business Intelligence line.
Oracle officials are holding their cards close to their chest and specific product details remain sketchy at this stage. But it is thought the new product will be built around a core set of customizable query and analysis functions included as part of its new Oracle Business Intelligence 10g stack. This is likely to include the next generation of its Discoverer query and analysis tool (codenamed Drake), a new Excel Add-In and new BI Beans.
Right now Oracle BI is bundled with Oracle’s Application Server. Oracle says it will continue to support that bundle following the release of the new product offering.
Oracle says the new product roll out is part of a big push to addresses a growing demand among enterprise customers for more simple business intelligence (BI) and data warehousing functionality that can be made more readily accessible to business users.
Oracle is also focusing on lower cost of ownership and rapid installation and deployment.
