Oracle Corp, Belmont, California is invading the Comecon countries in a big way, installing Ukranian-born Dr Yury Parad in Moscow as managing director of Oracle Eastern Europe and reporting installations of its eponymous relational database in Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Poland. It has appointed ATS in Poland and SZKI in Hungary as distributors and includes Budapest Traffic Company city transport operator, the Polish and Czech National Banks, the Hungarian Electricity Board, the Polish Foreign Trade Association, UAK Institute in Czechoslovakia, and SZKI itself in Budapest among its users. LU6.2 to enable its database to support non-IBM operating systems and computers in SNA nets. The MS-DOS and Unix versions for AT&T, NCR and Sun arrive this month, those for Unix on Apollo, Data General and Motorola and VAX/VMS and Data General OS/VS follow within six months.
