Oracle Corp has made its entry into the retailing industry through a partnership with two third party software developers, Retek Information Systems and HNC Software Inc. Oracle Retail, announced yesterday, combines Oracle’s existing Finance, Human Resources, Payroll and E-Commerce applications with Minneapolis- based Retek’s retail management software, which gathers real-time information about retail operations, and San Diego, California- based HNC Software Inc’s predictive software. Retek’s package includes inventory management, purchasing and receiving, price and promotion management and allocation and replenishment, as well as retail financial control and reporting. The product will also complete the supply chain to the end consumer when used in conjunction with Oracle’s Packaged Goods and Energy Downstream vertical market packages, the company said.
