Oracle Corp finally got its US launch of the multimedia server under way yesterday, saying that 17 companies were supporting the initiative; US West Inc has expanded its multimedia accord by starting projects involving interactive information services for businesses, education and consumer markets – the new agreement adds real-time audio and video capabilities of the Oracle Media Server to the joint efforts; Philips Digital Videocommunications Systems Inc and Compression Labs Inc said they will work with Oracle to integrate their set-top Digital Entertainment Terminals for delivery of digital video on demand to homes with the server; Scientific-Atlanta Inc has a similar deal, and Goldstar Co and Sharp Corp are getting in on the new act.
