Oracle Corp yesterday announced a new tool to make it easier and quicker for users to migrate from Microsoft’s SQL database to its Oracle 8 platform. The company said its Oracle Migration Workbench, now in beta, will be offered free of charge by the end of the year. It added that the tool would make it easier to migrate from a Microsoft database to an Oracle database than it would to migrate from previous versions of Microsoft SQL Server to the latest SQL Server 7.0. The company also announced the beta of Oracle8 Wizards for Visual Studio, a suite of tools that enhance Oracle8 with graphical wizards to make application development faster and easier for Windows NT by automating parts of the process.
