ORACLE DISMISSES DB2 AND SYBASE AS LEGACY SYSTEMS

By CBR Staff Writer

Oracle Corp has created a unit to steal customers that are using what it calls outdated IBM Corp DB2 and Sybase Inc systems – ignoring recent DB2 and Sybase enhancements. It’s melded its Open Gateway 4.0 and migration products and consulting services, promising to ease user transition to its Network Computing Architecture. Migration kits are available for DB2 and Sybase. Gateway 4.0 for DB2 is available on MVS and AS/400 with a version for Sybase on Solaris, NT, AIX, HP-UX and Digital Unix due out by the end of this quarter.
