Oracle collaborates with IBM on AIX

Oracle Corp and IBM Corp set aside their database rivalry to put their heads together on developing business applications that running on IBM's AIX 5L operating system.

Oracle is joining IBM’s AIX Collaboration Center (IACC) to integrate its business applications suite with current and future versions of IBM’s popular Unix system.

According to IDC’s figures, IBM ranks as the number one Unix vendor in the world.

Its AIX 5L system supports the entire range of IBM eServer pSeries systems – from entry-level workstations and servers to supercomputer systems.

Both companies share around 11,000 customers worldwide and despite competing head-to-head in the relational database market have worked together on several integration projects in the past.
