Specifically, the certifications are for PeopleSoft Enterprise versions running the underlying PeopleTools 8.47 that includes versions 8.8 and 8.9. Oracle claims that comprises most of the PeopleSoft Enterprise installed base, with several years back migrated from client/server to an Internet-based architecture.

That means that PeopleSoft applications could be extended using Oracle JDeveloper and accessed through the Oracle Portal, which supports Java and WSRP (web services)-based portlets. And it enables PeopleSoft apps to be exposed to the web using Oracle Application server.

Similar certifications for the acquired J.D. Edwards applications were provided last month. This is the latest step in a long-term roadmap to bridge the different application software bases. Oracle has not yet published the roadmaps for the core applications themselves.
