Oracle Corp, which announced back in October that it had joined forces with Pyramid Technology Corp to implement an enhanced version of release 3 of AT&T Co’s Tuxedo transaction processing monitor for Pyramid MIServer machines (CI No 1,274), yesterday announced that it is working with both Pyramid and with Sequent Computer Systems Inc to put AT&T’s new Release 4.0 of Tuxedo on the machines built by the two manufacturers. Tuxedo manages the communication between client processes and available servers, enhancing sustained performance levels in environments with very large numbers of users. Tuxedo 4.0 adds transaction prioritisation and centralised administration services over distributed heterogeneous networks using the X/Open XA Distributed Transaction Processing Standard. It will be on limited release in the second half of 1990. Pricing has not yet been determined.
