Developers using Oracle‘s Mobile Suite can now deploy apps to Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android platforms from a single code base, according to the database giant.
It has updated its suite to let developers build enterprise apps that are portable across tablets and smartphones as well as operating systems with the release of Oracle Mobile Application Framework (MAF).
Oracle reckons MAF will result in faster development cycles for mobile applications, adding that it supports Java, HTML5 and JavaScript coding and provides built-in security.
Chris Tonas, VP of mobility and development tools, said: "Oracle Mobile Suite contains everything developers need to extend their enterprise systems to mobile phones and tablets.
"The new Oracle Mobile Application Framework offers an easy transition for Java developers to bring their development skills to the mobile world, leveraging their Java and JavaScript skills with the tools they already use.
"By integrating the mobile application developer experience on both the front and back end, we are helping developers deliver mobile applications to their organization faster and more efficiently."
The announcement sees Oracle make a play for more mobile developers to join its platform, by trying to cut down on coding time for developers, and it comes after last week’s launch of SOA Suite 12c to make mobile apps simpler to integrate with Oracle software.
