Oracle has enhanced MySQL Enterprise Edition, which is a comprehensive subscription offering that includes MySQL Database plus monitoring, backup and design tools, with 24×7, worldwide customer support.

The new edition consists of MySQL Enterprise Backup and MySQL Workbench and enhancements in MySQL Enterprise Monitor.

The enhanced MySQL Enterprise Edition includes: integration with MyOracle support; MySQL Enterprise Monitor 2.3; MySQL Enterprise Backup 3.5; and MySQL Workbench 5.2.

Oracle said that the recent integration with MyOracle Support allows MySQL users to access the same support infrastructure used for its Database customers.

The MySQL Enterprise Edition supports multiple operating systems including Linux and Windows, which enables customers to achieve up to 90% TCO savings over Microsoft SQL Server, the company claimed.

Oracle engineering vice-president Tomas Ulin said the enhancements in MySQL Enterprise Edition underscore the company’s commitment to help customers be successful with the world’s most popular open source database.

"With the enhancements to MySQL Enterprise Monitor and MySQL Enterprise Backup, along with streamlined, global support, DBAs and developers can speed their MySQL deployments while reducing total cost of ownership," Ulin said.
