Oracle has integrated its logistics and transportation management capabilities, Transportation Management 6.1 with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.0, to provide a single platform for customers, enabling them to reduce their transportation, operational inefficiencies and drive higher service levels.
According to the company, the integrated platform modifies load consolidation and shipment planning, automates manual processes and supports collaborative decision making by increasing visibility across the supply chain.
In addition, the new pre-defined integration simplifies and supports transportation planning for purchase orders, sales orders, freight payment and audit, and the associated master data management needed to synchronise applications.
Further, the integration will enhance planning, sourcing, execution, financial settlement and visibility across all modes of transportation, while, the insertion of new business intelligence capabilities and dashboard will improve process efficiency and facilitates in monitoring ‘green’ metrics.
Derek Gittoes, vice president for logistics product strategy at Oracle, said: "Logistics and transportation management is an incredibly complex area that presents many different challenges for organisations as they try to optimise their supply chains.
"The integration of the latest releases of Oracle Transportation Management and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne addresses these challenges by seamlessly unifying best-in-class capabilities on a single platform. The combination will help customers simplify and streamline management which in turn will lower costs, reduce inefficiencies and improve decision making."
