Oracle has enhanced WebCenter Suite 11g, a component of its Fusion Middleware.
The WebCenter Suite 11g enables organisations to develop and deploy internal and external portals and websites, composite applications, mashups, and social and collaboration services all integrated with enterprise applications.
The new offering enables the addition of social computing capabilities to existing portals, helps organisations enhance Oracle Applications, leverage Oracle Content Management and assemble composite applications through the company’s common user experience architecture.
In addition, the WebCenter Suite 11g engages business users through improved collaboration capabilities, increased personalisation features, and better information discovery and access within the context of business processes.
Oracle said that the enhanced offering provides improved mobility with an iPhone app that provides access to content and status within Oracle WebCenter Spaces.
The offering also provides: contextual discovery and navigation of enterprise information via Business Activity Streams; Increased collaboration capabilities with voice and web conferencing, IM, presence and expertise discovery;
The suite 11g provides support for the Content Management Interoperability Standard (CMIS) to enable use of content from multiple repositories and across multiple systems.
