OPTOTECH HAS THE FIRST AUTOCHANGER FOR 5.25″ OPTICAL DRIVES

Optotech Inc, Colorado Springs, Colorado reckons it has the first autochanger for 5.25 write-once optical drives, and has announced pre-configured versions for the Sun Microsystems Sun-3; DEC MicroVAX II; MS-DOS micros and Apple Macintosh SE and II: the new Optofile operates like a jukebox for up to 66 optical disk cartridges and up to four drives, and costs 62 cents per megabyte with an SCSI interface; it’s available first quarter 1988, and an entry-level system with one Model 5984 disk drive and one 400Mb disk costs $9,950 OEM.
