Opera inks mobile browsing deal with Samsung

Opera Software ASA said it inked a licensing deal to have its browser on forthcoming mobile phones from Samsung Electronics.

By CBR Staff Writer

The deal bolsters Opera’s growing market share in the mobile market, where its namesake Mobile and Mini browsers can be found on BlackBerrys and Nokia phones, among others.

Opera Mobile, a version of Opera’s browser designed for small screens, will be used on future Samsung smartphones and/or advanced mobile phones, said the company. No further details about those Samsung devices were provided.

The deal is on a per-phone basis. Terms were not disclosed.
