Opera browser makes Series 60 jump

Opera Software ASA has made its small footprint web browser available for mobile devices based on the Series 60 platform. Oslo, Norway-based Opera had previously stated that it would not offer its technology for Nokia Corp's variant of Symbian OS until devices based on the technology boasted higher performance.

Opera for Series 60 features the company’s highly effective small-screen rendering technology that reformats full-size web pages to the characteristics of small displays. Series 60 device users will be able to download for 19.95 euros, although a 14-day trial version is also available.

Opera has previously ported its browser to Symbian’s own UIQ interface, as used on Sony Ericsson’s P800 smart phone.
