Opera Software has launched the first beta of Opera Dragonfly, which is an open source suite of debugging tools for web developers and designers.
The company said the new suite covers the full debugging workflow, from inspecting network access and downloaded resources, to correcting JavaScript issues and seeing how CSS rules apply to the DOM.
All the newest web technologies, including SVG and HTML5 APIs such as Web Storage, are supported by Opera Dragonfly.
The Dragonfly includes a JavaScript debugger for monitoring the exact expression or specific variable in the code, network inspector for finding latency and seeing how resources download, resource inspector, and storage inspector for updating and testing cookies and HTML5 Web Storage.
On being asked that why the company chose ‘Opera Dragonfly’ as the name, Opera Software chief Web opener David Storey said dragonflies eat bugs, and that is exactly what they want it to do for developers around the world.
The company said Opera Dragonfly is built in and loads automatically from the Web when a user downloads the Opera browser.
