This event, sponsored by Momentum – The Northern Ireland ICT Federation (formerly the Software Industry Federation), highlights Openwave’s contributions to Northern Ireland’s fast-growing ICT (Information Communications Technology) market.

Openwave was recognized as Company of the Year for its worldwide leadership in the mobile Internet market with its Openwave(TM) Services OS(TM) software. Services OS is a suite of open, IP-based mobile Internet software that provides rapid return on investment for mobile operators and a richer, more usable experience for subscribers. With strong market share worldwide, Openwave provides mobile Internet software to some of the world’s largest mobile operators including Sprint PCS in the US, KDDI in Japan, and BT’s Genie based in the UK. The company currently has 28 offices in 17 countries including Belfast, an important global research and development center for Openwave.

Winning this award attests to our growing global presence and our worldwide market leadership, said Denis Murphy, country manager, Ireland, at Openwave. Northern Ireland has been a region where our R&D center has been able to flourish, employing almost 200 people, and helping to ensure the superior quality of Openwave products.

Openwave won the award based upon three criteria-its global significance and presence, its clearly defined strategic direction, and innovative professional development of its workforce – all of which it met with high marks, said Jonathan Currie, chairman at Momentum.
