OpenText launch cloud-based file sharing service

OpenText Core is built specifically for digital enterprise; combines secure cloud technology with a simplified user experience.

By CBR Staff Writer

Information management specialist OpenText has launched a cloud-based service that allows businesses to share documents securely online.

Rather than having to rely on consumer alternatives, OpenText Core is built specifically for the digital enterprise and combines the benefits of secure cloud technology with a simplified user experience.

"Our customers need hybrid deployments, on-premises and in the cloud, to create a balanced workload that meets all their data sovereignty requirements," said Mark J. Barrenechea, president and chief executive officer of OpenText.

The provider recognises IT departments are under pressure to maintain control while also offering services that meet the needs of technology-savvy users.

OpenText Core aims to stop the risk associated with the spread of consumer-grade file sharing services on laptops, mobile devices and unmanaged public clouds.

The service offers a series of key features, including an HTML 5 file viewer for office documents and media, and a simple interface for searching and sorting content.

Social collaboration features, meanwhile, allow users to share documents among teams with internal and external permission controls.
