OpenLogic expands support for CentOS Linux distribution

Also plans to expand support to other community Linux distributions in 2010

OpenLogic, a provider of enterprise open source software offerings, said that it will begin to sell low cost support packages for community distributions of Linux.

The company has announced support for CentOS Linux distribution. CentOS is a stable operating system which is created from freely available source code of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).

OpenLogic said that it will expand support to other community Linux distributions in 2010. The company’s support offering for CentOS is priced based on the number of servers and the desired SLA. Customers has to pay $500 per server for small deployments and $15,000 per year for an unlimited number of servers.

According to OpenLogic, CentOS support contracts include indemnification, unlimited number of support incidents, unlimited number of sockets or CPUs and support for virtual machines.

The company said that it delivers support using internal support experts backed by open source developers in its expert community and companies in its expert partner program. It has added two new partners to the expert partner program credativ and Pantek, who will assist in delivering support for CentOS.
