New features included in the upgraded platform include: an integrated set of core enterprise library services for archive, metadata management, records management and search; better access to content held in external ERP systems via a Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 desktop; and tighter integration with Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server 2003, including basic content provisioning services.

Livelink 10 also supports a brand new rich client interface to allow users to access Livelink and other content from Microsoft desktop applications like Outlook, Office and Internet Explorer.

For developers and systems integrators there is also a new Web Services API for Livelink’s enterprise library and content services to allow for easier integration and customization

Some of the new features in Livelink 10 are available now, while the rest are being rolled out in 2007.

Open Text officials called Livelink 10 an evolutionary step that is intended to support the company’s new Enterprise Transparency initiative, which is intends to address corporate governance and regulatory compliance initiatives by leveraging content management software.

Open Text said the initiative reflects an evolution of content management from simply tracking and controlling information to leveraging it for business advantage.

Open Text, which is headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario, boasts 46,000 Livelink customers worldwide.
