OPEN TEXT LEADS WEB-ENABLED DOCUMENT MANAGER MARKET

By CBR Staff Writer

Open Text Corp has been credited as Web-enabled electronic document manager market leader following a world-wide review of the market by International Data Corp. Open Text’s Livelink Intranet was found to have 60,000 users, almost 40,000 more than its closest rival Information Dimensions Inc. In its report, IDC said Livelink Intranet was unique in that it had, a collaborative project approach to managing documents. The report defines electronic data management as technology that enables users to access the system’s functionality through a browser. It states: Users can check documents in and out, view documents and manage document repository using only a Web browser. The Ontario, Canada-based Open Text, established in 1992 with 20 offices across the world, became a publicly-listed company in January last year. Its products run on Windows NT and most Unix operating systems. Livelink Intranet supports Netscape Navigator, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Macintosh and Motif clients.
