Burlington, Massachusetts-based electronic commerce software house Open Market Inc is to use the ObjectStore database from Object Design Inc for its LiveCommerce product. LiveCommerce is an application for building online catalogs for electronic commerce sites. ObjectStore has been embedded within the product to store and manage all data on a catalog’s products and their attributes. Open Market says it chose the technology because of its high performance on navigating and retrieving data from very large catalogs, and because it enabled users to customize catalog presentation and pricing for specific customers. Live Connect uses ObjectStore’s Cache-Forward caching architecture for distributing data and database processing across distributed systems to reduce network traffic, increase the number of users that can be supported and speed up searching. Object Design is also based in Burlington.
