Open Market Inc, the Boston, Massachusetts internet commerce software company has bought Waypoint Software Corp from just down the road in Cambridge for a $12m cash and shares nix. Waypoint brings a front office industrial-strength business-to-business catalog development tool to add to Open Market’s flagship OM-Transact back office suite. It will be Open Market’s first front office software, and its first acquisition. Until now it has relied on its 15 ISV partners to provide such stuff. The Waypoint team of less than ten will all be moving into town following the completion of Open Market’s first acquisition this quarter.
