ONYX ACQUIRES MARKETING ENCYCLOPEDIA FIRM ENCYC

By CBR Staff Writer

Onyx Software Corp has acquired EnCyc Inc for its knowledge management marketing encyclopedia product, on undisclosed terms. EnCyc, which changed its name from Visionary Logic Inc in October last year, is based in Holland, Michigan, and claims to have 10,000 customers for its product, also called EnCyc. Its purpose is to provide marketing and sales executives with online information they need to support sales calls. Bellevue, Washington-based Onyx has developed the Customer Center line of front-end customer management software optimized for Microsoft’s BackOffice and will integrate the two software lines. Onyx says it will employ all EnCyc staff and gradually incorporate the company’s operations into its own. Privately held Onyx is thought to be considering an initial public offering.
