Online video reached 34 million UK Internet users in January 2012, representing 80% of the total UK Internet audience, according to data from the comScore Video Metrix service.

Google Sites ranked as the top video destination with nearly 30 million unique viewers.

Of all the online content video viewers, 64.1% percent of them were exposed to a video ad, with the 15-24 age group representing the largest video ad audience.

The research firm sates that YouTube is instrumental in making Google Sites the top online video destination.

Around 34.2 million UK Internet users watched approximately 8.4 billion videos for 58.8 billion minutes in January.

Though the size of the UK online video audience has not grown in the past six months, the number of videos viewed has soared by 28% while the total time users spent viewing online video grew 42%.

Top online destination Google Sites, which had 29.9 million unique viewers, was followed by VEVO with 11.7 million unique viewers.

Taking up the third spot was social network Facebook, which attracted 8.3 million unique viewers.
