The company, which operates both of these domains, said that 12% to 14% of new domain registrations over the last two and a half years have been made purely for PPC pages.
A PPC page, by VeriSign’s definition, is registered with the intention of developing a web site with PPC advertising links to generate advertising revenue. Such sites generally only have enough content to fire the advertising network’s contextual advertising.
The 11% figure relates to what VeriSign calls PPC-intent pages – those registered with PPC in mind. It does not take into account PPC pages that are merely parked pending content.
