OnCare Hawaii chose IntelliDose for its ability to manage the demands of the oncology specialty. It is expected to ease the paperless practice transition by fitting the existing workflow of every stakeholder in oncology care, and seamlessly integrating with OnCare’s existing Allscripts Enterprise Electronic Health Record and Allscripts Enterprise Practice Management system.

IntelliDose transforms the manual process of chemotherapy regimen calculations into electronically verified orders. It will allow OnCare Hawaii to standardize 100% of its chemotherapy orders and administrations, ensuring the highest levels of patient safety and efficiency practice-wide. It also reportedly eliminates the high costs and potential for error associated with hand-written orders.

Rowena Yee-Hoy, director of nursing at OnCare Hawaii, said: We have 12 outstanding physicians and three nurse practitioners – which often translates into five different ways of placing orders. For nurses administering those orders, it is a daily challenge to recognize the difference between a deviation in treatment and an error. IntelliDose is incredibly intuitive for all members of our practice, which makes it easy to go electronic.
