Ing C Olivetti & Co’s Systems and Networks division is to supply a new computer system to the Italian Consular Diplomatic Network worldwide, automating the Consular functions and registry data services to Italian citizens living abroad. The Diplomatic Network consists of over 250 offices, and Olivetti will supply about 50 of its LSX Unix mini- and microcomputers and over 500 personal computers and printers. The company will also provide project management, installation and network installation services in a contract that is valued at around $8m. The contract also requires the company to develop of an automated electoral index system to administer voting rights for Italians abroad.
