Ing C Olivetti & Co will invest more than $120m over the next three years to provide 24 hour by seven days support in its desktop services sector, pushing expected revenues up 21% to $1,400m in 1994. Olivetti already has centres in the UK, Italy and South Africa and a further seven centres are set to open by the end of 1995: in the US, Denmark, Singapore, Spain, France, Germany and Chile. Olivetti has also agreed with Microsoft Corp to act as an authorised support partner in Europe, alongside ICL Plc. However Microsoft was at pains to reassure users that it remains committed to supporting client-server products – consulting and planning, remote support and help desk, bug fixes, change management, and upgrades.
