Ing C Olivetti & Co SpA has now launched its Quaderno 2 lbs 3 oz ultra-portable Quaderno in the US, claiming that it is the lightest, fully MS-DOS 5.0-based personal computer available: the Quaderno is a fully-integrated speech management system consisting of an integrated microphone and speaker for speech recording and playback to and from the hard disk; $1,200 buys the machine with 16MHz 1Mb NEC Corp V30HL – 8086-compatible processor, parallel port for a printer, modem, facsimile and communications unit and PCMCIA slot for auxilliary storage and program loading, plus 20Mb hard disk and 512Kb of ROM.
