Olivetti Personal Computers SpA is consoling itself with the fact that revenue reported for the first half of the year fell less than it did in the second half of 1996. The Italian personal computer maker saw its revenue decline by 10.4% in its first half to $1.7m, while revenue dropped 20% in the previous half. The group has given no indication of its first half earnings which will be published in September, but has said that it doesn’t expect to make a profit in 1997, which means this will be the seventh consecutive year that it has been a loss-making operation.
