Copenhagen, Denmark-based Olicom A/S has launched its first stackable Ethernet hubs, the OC-2610 and the OC-2611. Olicom says that both will connect up to 80 10Base-T end-stations to an Ethernet backbone local network. Up to four OC-2610 Ethernet hubs can connect to one OC-2611 Ethernet Hub to form a single logical Simple Network Management Protocol managed repeater, with the OC-2611 providing Simple Network Management Protocol management capabilities for all hubs in the stack. The Simple Network Management Protocol implementation is said to operate over TCP/IP or Internet Packet Exchange. The company says that OC-2611 supports Management Information base MIB II, the IEEE 802.3 repeater MIB (RFC 1517) and an Olicom enterprise MIB, and will be shipped with Olicom Hub Manager for MS-DOS and Olicom Hub Manager for HP OpenView for Windows. The OC-2610 is out now at $1,000 and the OC-2611 ships later this month at $1,500.
