Ricoh of Japan has come up with an invention not to be sniffed at – and patented a device that will release smells from your TV or PC. The idea is that if you are surfing a website with ocean views, a salty tang will be released and one with a forest would release the smell of trees. According to the New Scientist, Ricoh say web pages would carry data pulses that would trigger a mechanical device in the PC or TV to crush capsules of aromatic agents. Advertisers are sure to push hard to make sure the idea catches on.
