The European market for enterprise decision support and information access tools saw some recovery last year after a difficult 1996, according to a new report from International Data Corp. The market was worth $2.14bn in 1997, says the report: Enterprise Decision Support & Information Access Tools, 1998 Market & Trends in Western Europe. The report highlights higher than expected growth in the mature spreadsheet market, though annual growth of less than 5% is forecast for the next few years. Executive information system tools will grow at less than 4%. But query and reporting and OLAP tools should see growth rates of more than 30%, says the report, while statistical and data mining tools will grow at 16% on average over the next five years.
